Code of conduct

The short version

Be decent to each other. Everyone here should be able to eat a taco and talk shop without being harassed, talked over, or made to feel like they don't belong. If someone makes that hard, tell an organizer and we'll handle it.

What we expect

• Welcome newcomers. If someone's standing alone with a plate, that's your cue.
• Assume good faith and different experience levels. "You don't know that?" is banned; "let me show you" is encouraged.
• Let people finish sentences, especially during Q&A.
• Respect a "no" — about a topic, a photo, a follow-up sales call, anything.

What's not okay

• Harassment or intimidation of any kind — including comments about identity, background, employer, or skill level.
• Unwelcome physical contact or unwelcome romantic or sexual attention.
• Sustained heckling, derailing talks, or one-upping speakers from the floor.
• Recording or photographing people who've asked you not to.
• Turning the room into a sales funnel. One conversation is networking; working the room with a quota is not.

How to report a problem

Two ways, use whichever feels safer:

• In person: find any organizer at the event — introduced at the start of every talk — and say "I need a conduct conversation." We'll step outside with you immediately.
• By email: hello@techtacotuesdays.com, any time, including after the event. Reports go only to the organizers.

Tell us as much or as little as you want. We'll keep your name out of it unless you say otherwise, we won't force a confrontation, and reporting will never be held against you.

What happens next

Organizers will act on reports at the event — that can mean a conversation, a warning, or being asked to leave that night. Repeat or serious behavior means you're not welcome back. This applies to everyone: attendees, speakers, sponsors, and organizers, at the event and in any online space we run.
